“Make Art Not War” is the motto of Jimmy Tsutomu Mirikitani. This 80-year-old Japanese American artist survived many traumas by making art: WWII incarceration, the loss of family and friends in Hiroshima, and a harsh life on the streets of New York. Intrigued by Mirikitani’s drawings of cats, a Soho filmmaker befriends him in 2001. The fall of the World Trade Center on 9/11 suddenly changes both their lives, and together they embark on a journey to confront the past.
